Microsoft's Copilot vs. ChatGPT: No Impact on Installs

Analysis reveals that Microsoft Copilot's launch hasn't affected ChatGPT's app installs or revenues despite offering GPT-4 access.

Microsoft's Copilot App Yet to Impact ChatGPT's Installs and Revenue

Despite offering free access to the advanced GPT-4 technology, Microsoft's Copilot app has not significantly affected the downloads or revenue of OpenAI's ChatGPT. A new analysis from the app store data suggests that the lack of promotional efforts may be behind Copilot's unremarkable launch impact.

App Store Launch and User Response

Since its release, Copilot has garnered 2.1 million downloads, with the U.S. being the largest market. The app's downloads peaked at 413,000 before declining. ChatGPT, on the other hand, continued to grow, adding 4.2 million downloads in the same period, with its revenue on the rise as well.

Promotion and Market Penetration

Microsoft's lack of promotional activities, including not leveraging Apple's Search Ads, may have contributed to Copilot's low visibility among potential users. Additionally, current user loyalty to ChatGPT and its established user base might explain the new app's difficulties in attracting significant interest.
